A Glimpse of Frost Like Ashes

StudioJRU

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11

I found a wonderful bible verse this week that I used in my post on Wednesday. As I look out my windows this week and see the winter white, it has stayed on my mind.

He spreads the snow like wool
and scatters the frost like ashes.
Psalm 147:16

He has scattered this frost like ashes.

It almost looks like little evergreen trees. Or feathers. Every little crystal adding to the beautiful detail.

It is quite something isn't it? So full of amazing detail! Detail that could only come from One hand.

Have you taken a moment this week to appreciate the splendor God has blessed us with? I would love to see it! To learn more about this idea and before submitting a link, read

Baby Art

Here is a little preview of things to come next year...

I had been thinking about starting to make 'baby art' for a while. So, when my friend said she needed some baby shower gifts and asked if I had anything... I knew it was something I wanted to start doing.

So many ideas for blocks... and wood canvas pieces... and crosses! Stayed tuned... you will be seeing a lot more of this soon! :)

Christmas Tour of Homes

Christmas Tour of Homes with The Nester

Welcome to my Christmas home tour! Please make yourself at home.

I think we will start in the kitchen. Red berries and stars and red jingle bells in jars add a touch of Christmas to the top of the refrigerator.

And there is always a few yummy treats out!

Silver bulbs and a little red bird ornament.

In our seating area in the kitchen we have a coffee table... aka an old incubator. On top, a little sapling in a terra cotta pot... and a few bulbs and bells.

The buffet in the dining room has a simple green garland across the top with a few added pine cones and a silver nativity statue.

I love this photo of my mom by their Christmas tree when she was little! A few jingle bells added to a bowl of peppermint candies.

We have a wonderful nativity collection of Fontanini set up in our office. It is probably our favorite Christmas decoration. Showing the story of the real reason we are celebrating.

Just a little something in the hallway outside of the bathroom. An old Christmas album in a frame next to a tree.

Our TV cabinet is topped with a star, some holly branches, and a Bless All Who Gather Here sign.

Below is more holly branches... I love the green with red berries... a mistletoe plate and a candle vase.

This is the candle vase I put together. I put a candle in a vase and then put that inside a large glass vase. Then I added some pine cones and red jingle bells.

A simple wooden Christmas tree ornament adds a touch to the tray on top of the coffee table.

We don't have a theme Christmas tree. Each year our tree is full of a wonderful collection of ornaments. I have gotten Hallmark series ornaments from my grandparents since I was little. We still get one every year from my grandma and each year we can't wait to add it to the tree.

We also get an ornament that symbolizes something special from the year.

Every ornament on our tree has a story. Every ornament has a special meaning behind it. I love that about our tree!!

So... that is my Christmas home. I hope you have enjoyed the tour! May you and your family have a blessed Christmas! ♥

A Glimpse of Hope

StudioJRU

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11

My glimpse this week came in a little lesson about hope. A lesson of hope that came from my Christmas Cactus. Kind of fitting don't you think... Christmas... hope. :) You see, my grandma and my mom have each had one of these plants... which I think are *beautiful*! They have no trouble keeping theirs looking pretty and blooming... so I thought I might try this plant too. How hard can it be? Um...

I am pretty sure it shouldn't look like this. I guess it was more difficult than I thought! I held on for several years... hoping each year it would turn around and be the beautiful cactus I knew it could be. I had tried everything. Then... a few months ago I gave up. Yes... I gave up thinking my plant would ever be what I hoped for. One part of the plant was totally dead and the other part didn't look far behind. I moved it away from my other plants. I set it aside until I would clean up the pot and try something else.

But then I saw this...

Is that what I think it is? Could it possibly be? Is that a tiny little bloom? I was so excited! I had given up hope on my dear Christmas cactus. I had forgotten about it. But there it was... all along... waiting to show me this...

This little pink reminder to never give up hope. And have patience. Hope and patience go hand in hand. Patience because all things happen in God's timing, not ours, and we all know HIS timing is perfect! We may not see it coming. It may not come in the way we thought it would. It may not come when we thought it would... but it will come.

Keep hope. The best is yet to come!

I am also going to link this linky post with a linky post! :) This post is being shared with Blog Nosh Magazine’s first special-event carnival, as they share stories of hope this holiday season in support of the Tide Loads of Hope program, a mobile laundromat offering laundry services to families affected by disasters.
