Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11
My glimpse this week came in a little lesson about hope. A lesson of hope that came from my Christmas Cactus. Kind of fitting don't you think... Christmas... hope. :) You see, my grandma and my mom have each had one of these plants... which I think are *beautiful*! They have no trouble keeping theirs looking pretty and blooming... so I thought I might try this plant too. How hard can it be? Um...
I am pretty sure it shouldn't look like this. I guess it was more difficult than I thought! I held on for several years... hoping each year it would turn around and be the beautiful cactus I knew it could be. I had tried everything. Then... a few months ago I gave up. Yes... I gave up thinking my plant would ever be what I hoped for. One part of the plant was totally dead and the other part didn't look far behind. I moved it away from my other plants. I set it aside until I would clean up the pot and try something else. But then I saw this...
Is that what I think it is? Could it possibly be? Is that a tiny little bloom? I was so excited! I had given up hope on my dear Christmas cactus. I had forgotten about it. But there it was... all along... waiting to show me this...
This little pink reminder to never give up hope. And have patience. Hope and patience go hand in hand. Patience because all things happen in God's timing, not ours, and we all know HIS timing is perfect! We may not see it coming. It may not come in the way we thought it would. It may not come when we thought it would... but it will come.
Keep hope. The best is yet to come!Have you taken a moment this week to appreciate the splendor God has blessed us with? I would love to see it! I am also going to link this linky post with a linky post! :) This post is being shared with Blog Nosh Magazine’s first special-event carnival, as they share stories of hope this holiday season in support of the Tide Loads of Hope program, a mobile laundromat offering laundry services to families affected by disasters.

That beautiful bloom is the perfect picture of long awaited hope Jen. It gives me....hope!
This is so beautiful!! What a stunning reminder of the tenacity of hope!! Such encouragement to me tonight!
Hope. I live by and for that word. And your cactus...you may have moved it aside to focus on other plants but you didn't throw it out -- somehow your faith in it was still strong, strong enough that perhaps the spot you shifted it to was exactly the place it needed to be able to thrive. Just like people -- where we are, the right amount of food, water and sunlight makes all the difference. Beautiful story Jennifer.
What a gift you have. Simply beautiful!!
Beautiful message. Thank you. Hope is my favorite word.
